We had a bit of an "incident" yesterday. Chris and I were deep in conversation about something terribly important (I'm sure), Athena was coloring on the floor and Zoe disappeared inside the play tent in the toy room. A couple or so minutes later, she reappears with no diaper and poop all over her standing in front of me with a helpless sort of look. I immediately ran her to the bath while Chris was left to clean the poop from the tent, the carpet, the wall (!?) and the little poop footprints leading up to where I stood. It was a four alarm emergency and quite dramatic in the eyes of the only observer, Athena.
Now normally, this is not a moment I would want to preserve here, however it was so funny because Athena immediately after the event felt she needed to express it in her art. So she drew the above photo, which you can see on the far left a figure that represents Zoe with poop on her, the blob next to her (I believe) is her partially poop filled diaper and the other spots are poop everywhere (note the brown pen). The above photo is apparently Zoe in the tent (see the smiley face) with lots of poop inside, and around the tent is a representation of the wall with a spot of poop, and on the bottom and right are the poop footprints on the carpet.
And here we have Mommy and Daddy, who were very angry. Apparently I was so upset that my scowl took over all the other features of my face. Daddy still seems to be taking everything in stride and even smirking a little. But Mommy, not so much (*sigh*).

The brown pen...priceless! Let's all hope that this will be the end of Athena's (and Zoe's) "Brown Period."
=)
Hahaha!! That's hilarious!
that is the BEST blog you have ever done. i had to call my friend to make her read it stat so i could have someone to laugh with about it. at the hospital, we would call that a "Code Brown." Seriously!
LOL!! That is CLASSIC. Loved it!
There is one thing that I know to be true in all my years of learning and self exploration and one thing only.
Poop is always funny.
LOL>>>>>>>>!!!! WAH HA ... You have got to write a book - your story telling is ten times better than the BOB & SHERI show. Didn't she write, "Hello My Name is Poop?" You are soooo much better. Of course, two great, funny girls help too : )
p.s. I have been the parent so upset that I had no face left, too. I feel for you.
I'm sure this was horrible to experience, but oh my goodness.....it's so, so funny in the retelling! Athena's pictures are works of art! ;)
This is so funny to ME as the outsider looking in. Hysterical, I tell you. I love the use of brown pen. I love how Athena sort of draws people with snowman bodies.
Uncle Stu is right...poop is always funny. Good call leaving Chris to clean up. :)
Oh that Athena. I dare you to find a more creative being under the age of 5.
Looking beyond the absolute hilariousness of the story, perhaps Zoe's removal of her diaper is symbolic that it is time to really "remove" it?
Then again, that asking for a whole other set of "incidents."
that's pretty much awesome. ;)
