Guess what?

The international symbol for "HOLY CRAP!!!!"

I know it's still very early to announce this but I can't keep secrets and I've been sitting on this information for more than a week now. Anyone knows me knows that in Julie-time that is forever! So after personally informing all the grandparents and aunts and uncles, we can now publically announce Baby #3 due sometime in early March. Yikes!

We are thrilled, of course, but also in shock and kind of terrified.

The reason for my post now is to ask for your prayers. This is the week in the pregnancy that his/her little face is forming. Because of Zoe's cleft, there is a 1 in 20 chance that this baby will also have a cleft. This is a significant increase when you compare it to the 1 in 700 chance for the regular population.

If we happen to be blessed with another cleft baby, we will manage quite well (been there, done that, got the t-shirt), however I pray we will not have to go through that again.

Can you say a quick prayer with me?

I'm putting a candle in the church as we speak, and asking Fr. Luis (he is a healer, and has the gift of healing)to pray for you all. One bonus of working at the church direct access to the priests. Your all in my prayers and congrats!! Don't worry God provides. Love always. Aunt Val

I'm praying for your little one. I remember the crucial week with number 2, 3, and 4 and just wondering until the sonogram at 20 weeks if the lip and palate came together. I'm praying for the health of the baby but also peace for his/her parents! Congrats on the new addition to your family. I just emailed you, but Happy Birthday! Hope we can get together soon.

I got carried away with excitement and forgot to say, I know what you mean. I started praying for the health of any subsequent children of ours as soon as Elsie was diagnosed, and you'd better believe that I looked inside Claira's mouth before I even thought about counting all of those cute little fingers and toes. Anyway, are you taking folic acid? I don't know how much weight to put in that theory, but I thought I'd be on the safe side, and I took a LOT throughout my pregnancy...I believe the most important weeks for that part of development are like 6-12...sources vary so I covered all the bases.
I'll continue to keep you and this new blessing of yours in my prayers. Hopefully, you'll be heaving a sigh of relief when he or she is born.

Mouth wide open . . . holy crap is right! Congratulations!!! Sounds really scary to me, but you'll be great! Prayers are being sent, and will continue for the overall health of baby, and especially for the lip and palate. YAY!!! I love babies!
