Pinkalicious

Even for all the work and exhaustion and craziness, I really do love throwing my minis birthday parties. It's not possible without tons of help (thanks Mimi and Mariana) and it never goes exactly how you imagine, but it's all about making memories and celebrating the wonderful day that our they joined us in this world.

Athena's Pink Pajama Party over the weekend was totally "Pinkalicious" - by her request, of course. We had pink balloons, pink streamers, pink napkins, pink cupcakes, pink lemonade and thirteen little girls all dressed in pink pajamas (plus a couple of tag-along little brothers).

The Dude got into the spirit of things with some pink pajamas I found in one of the girls' old clothes bins.

Fifteen little guests arrived exactly at 5:30 with sleeping bags and flashlights. We milled around a bit until it got dark and then turned off all the lights. In the darkened room, we played a version of "Duck, duck, goose" except it was "Asleep, asleep, awake" and then flashlight Hide and Seek and then went on bear hunt. It was total wild chaos. My living room looked like this. With the Dude in the middle of it all, pretending to be a big kid.
Athena had friends from her old school and her new school (she wanted them to meet) but especially loved having her BFF, Amelia. I have a feeling we'll be seeing alot of her - which is great because she is a wonderful little girl and they are well matched in their personalities - they simply adore each other and they'll be going to the same Kindergarten next year (EEK!).
After the Bear Hunt, we had pink cupcakes and hot chocolate.Yum.
The birthday girl like.
And then presents. Lots and lots of presents.
After presents, we settled down for storytime, gave everyone "Good Night (Hershey) Kisses" and sent them all home to their own little beds.

And then played with all Athena's new toys.
Every attempt to get a photo of my pink pajama clad crew ended like this, of course...
With retrospect, I can look back and say, "Yeah! It was fun!" but there are many things I would have done differently. Oh well, at least Athena felt the love.
Now onto the next party! John Patrick turns ONE in a week!

The Dude in pink jammies!!! I cannot quit smiling! I think it's the cutest thing I've seen in quite a while. :)

Glad Athena had such a great party!

The Dude looks like, "What did you put me in?" LOL! BubTar is SO anti-pink and KayTar loves it so much, I think her gift to him for his birthday is going to be one of those "Tough guys wear pink" t-shirts. Ha!

Looks like it was a lot of fun!

Sooo much pink. I wonder what 18 year old Julie would think of all this? :)
