Chatauqua

We enjoyed a great day with Grandaddio and Grandma Andree, first at Chuck E Cheese and then, for the grownups, a trip to Chatauqua for lunch. The girls got to play at the playground, but it was reaching naptime, so we left too soon and Athena sobbed and sobbed until she fell asleep in the car. Zoe also conked out, so rather than rushing back to the hotel in a vain attempt to get them to sleep again (never works after a car nap) we got Starbucks and drove all the way up Flagstaff to see the view. Returning back to Boulder, the downhill hairpin turns woke Athena and she was a terrible grump for the rest of the day. Luckily Chris and I had a chance to escape our unpleasant, napless children and left them with the grandparents so that we could have a quiet dinner for two. Although there were a couple of meltdowns, there also was quite a bit of tickling, snuggling and telltale signs of Oreo cookie eating. We, on the other hand, had a fantastic meal and two blissful hours of adult time.
